Yesterday was our designated laundry day. We knew we'd have three loads to run which didn't sound too bad. However, European machines use less water than American, but take longer. Add to this the fact that Ivan puked during the night, and he always sleeps in our bed. Where we had just changed the bed linen. We now had five loads, each load taking two to 2.5 hours. Plus the drying time. We never want to see the inside of a laundry again.
Today I picked up a book order at the local book store in Norden and then did the grocery shopping. Found a really good store, Edeka, where they not only had halloumi but also non-lactose dairy products. And a good selection of meat, veggies, wine and beer. Of course!
We then went to Greetsiel which turned out to be another favourite. So we've decided to forego the trip to Norderney tomorrow - this was after all only a second best since the camp grounds were fully booked. Instead we want to see more of Greetsiel tomorrow and then take a tourboat to the island of Borkum, just over the day on Monday.
The weather has been fairly good the past days. Not too windy, sometimes overcast. Right now, at 6.30 pm, it is almost unbearably warm in the sun. Me like!
Original apfelstrudel von Ostfriesland, made from scrumped apples
The five people who used to live here were taken to and then killed at different concentration camps. Flagstones like these can be seen all over Germany.
This, and the following photos are all from Greetsiel.
