Sunday, July 7
Another hot
day. We had planned to visit both the Chateau de Villandry and a vineyard in
Saumur, but today being Sunday, we had to postpone the wine until tomorrow.
Instead we had a walk in the lovely town of Saumur. All the shops were closed,
only restaurants were open. We’d really like to come back here some day. And
then off to the Chateau.
And what a
place that proved to be! The keep dates back to the 12th century or
so, the rest has been added later on. The garden is about 200 years old,
replacing an English style garden that in turn replaced the original French
knot garden. We were totally blown away, by the Chateau, but even more so by
the garden.
Tomorrow
it’s wine tasting time again, so back to Saumur. But before then, check out the
pics below!
See the small fans? That's how we keep cool in the night!
The great Stellplatz in Bouchemaine. And very low water in the Loire due to the dry winter.
Many French roads look like this one. Delightful!
The Loire once again
Amazing installation in Saumur
Me in Saumur
Small dogs were welcome as long as they were carried in a bag!
My table at home. As if.
The kitchen. We were actually surprised it wasn't bigger.
Stunning flower arrangements in all the rooms
A bathtub, probably in copper and clad with linen to make it more comfortable.
