Ålesund is just over two hours from Runde. We managed to get a spot at Bobilsparkering Ålesund. A bobilsparkering is a no frills kind of campsite. This one has clean toilets and showers - thank you!, and you can empty grey and black water, plus fill fresh water. At no extra cost. A 15 minute walk, and we were in the City centre.
First things first - food! J had a pizza which was ok, and I had a delicious chicken and bacon salad. Food tastes so much better when you don't have to do the dishes afterwards...
Later, we just walked around, enjoying all the Art Nouveau/Jugend architecture. Aalesund was devastated in huge fire in 1904 and was totally rebuilt in the prevalent fashionabla- Art Nouveau.
I also ran around looking for the same socks I'd bought in Bergen. Let's just say I've been to more tourist stores than I care to mention. And then - finally! Victory!
